Description: BRAIN Initiative investigator, Valentina Emiliani, and Eirini Papagiakoumou have organized a specialized school on optogenetics and wave front shaping called, “Optical control of brain functioning with optogenetics and wave front shaping." This course will take place at the Vision Institute in Paris, 8-12 October 2018. The meeting intends to bring together researchers interested on working on optical brain manipulation with the aim to help the attendees in choosing the most suitable combination of actuator, illumination method and targeting strategy for each specific application, and learn the skills and technologies required to design and build up an optical system for optical control of neuronal circuits. Speakers include: V. Emiliani, E. Papagiakoumou, N. Accanto, E. Ronzitti, D. Dalkara, C. Wyart, D. Tanese, D. di Gregorio, G. Dugué, S. Picaud (researchers), D. Oron (researcher, Weitzmann Institute) and P. Hagemman (PR, Institut for experimental biophysics, Berlin). Pre-registrations are opened and will close on August 31st. A preregistration is required together with the filling of a survey form, the selected candidates will be informed by September 10th at the latest.
