Description: The Kavli Foundation Lecture Series promotes groundbreaking discovery and public understanding of the world’s mounting challenges and how chemistry can provide solutions. The American Chemical Society gratefully acknowledges The Kavli Foundation’s generous support for The Fred Kavli Innovations in Chemistry Lecture and The Kavli Foundation Emerging Leader in Chemistry Lecture. The Kavli Foundation Lecture Series will be moderated by Dr. Peter K. Dorhout, ACS President. Jill Millstone from the University of Pittsburgh will present The Kavli Foundation Emerging Leader in Chemistry Lecture, Metal-ligand chemistry in nanoparticle synthesis and performance, at 4:00PM on August 20th. Harry Atwater from the California Institute of Technology will present The Fred Kavli Innovations in Chemistry Lecture, Light as Fuel, at 5:15PM on August 20th. In addition, there will be two BRAIN Initiative Symposia at the ACS meeting: Nanoscience & Nanotechnology in Neuroscience & the BRAIN Initiative (Organizer & Presider: Anne Andrews) at 9:00AM on August 21; and The Role of the Chemical Sciences in Brain Research & the BRAIN Initiative (Organizer: Jonathan Sweedler) at 1:30PM on August 21.
