Industry Fireside Chat: The Future of Neural Therapeutics

Host: IEEE Brain
Start Date: Oct 21, 2020
Time: 1pm EST
Location: Virtual

Description: As interest in design and adoption of closed-loop brain-machine interface (BMI) neurotechnologies to treat movement disorders and neurological diseases steadily increases, next generation closed-loop devices that decode and encode neural activity from multiple nervous system sites (CNS, PNS, ANS) are likely to emerge within the next ten years. Developing such solutions will require multidisciplinary collaborations, involving neuroscientists, engineers, clinicians, neuroethicists, and the support of multiple government and industry professionals. We invite all interested stakeholders to participate in this fireside chat focused on current challenges and successes in development of next generation neurotechnologies. Over the past two years, IEEE Brain has worked in collaboration with representatives from academia and industry to develop a white paper exploring the future of closed-loop neurotechnologies. This event is a continuation of this effort, offering an opportunity for dialogue among key stakeholders as well as discussion on the projected trajectory of growth plus the necessary dependent technologies and advancements required to achieve next generation neurotechnology. Note: Prior to the workshop, participants will be emailed a current version of the white paper for review, with feedback welcome.
